Yasuoka Shion, the protagonist of the anime series "Shion no Ou," is a young prodigy in the game of Shougi. However, her tragic past haunts her - her parents were savagely killed in front of her when she was a child, and the perpetrator challenged her to a game of Shougi. In order to survive, Shion had to remain silent and try to forget the traumatic event that changed her life forever. Despite her difficulty in expressing herself verbally, Shion becomes an impressive player in the league of accomplished female Kishi, displaying her talent and intelligence on the Shougi board. Yet, as her fame grows, so does the curiosity about her past and the dreadful murder she witnessed. As Shion's memories resurface, the mystery surrounding the tragedy slowly unravels piece by piece.
