Kimihiro Watanuki's life was always peculiar, with his ability to see spirits and his devotion to Yuuko, the enigmatic proprietor of an unusual establishment, who pledged to free him from this gift. However, to achieve his desire, this extraterrestrial woman can only do so after he has worked adequately to earn it. The compensation for anyone seeking their wish in the shop is commensurate with their petition's value. Watanuki finds himself completing household tasks for the seemingly indolent Yuuko and her cohorts in this bizarre venue bridging the living and the dead, and assisting customers, along with his schoolmates, the rival Shizuka Doumeki, and his love interest, Himawari Kunogi. Watanuki and his companions must cope with the multiple adversities that afflict Yuuko's clients, as well as those that closely pursue them.
