Hikaru Hoshina, a bubbly middle schooler with a keen interest in space and the supernatural, is engrossed in sketching constellations when she meets Fuwa, a cute and furry creature from outer space capable of creating interdimensional portals. When Fuwa's extraterrestrial comrades Lala Hagoromo and Prunce arrive seeking the assistance of the mythical warriors known as the Precure, Hikaru pledges to aid them against their adversaries, the Notraiders, who are intent on abducting Fuwa and leveraging their abilities. As Cure Star, a highly coveted member of the Precure unit, Hikaru battles passionately alongside her colleagues to locate the remaining Precure members and unlock the Star Color Pens, essential in rejuvenating the 12 Star Princesses and reinstating harmony in the galaxy.
