Kazuma Satou, a quiet high school student, unfortunately met his demise on the way back from a game store. In the afterlife, he met a beautiful but unpleasant goddess named Aqua who threatened to ruin his experience. She gave him a choice between ascending to heaven or being reincarnated into a gamer's utopia. Kazuma chose the latter and was tasked with defeating a Demon King who was causing chaos in the village. Despite choosing Aqua as his companion, he quickly realized his mistake as she was unhelpful. Living in this new world was costly and their basic needs were not free, making it starkly different from the real world. In addition, their misfortunes only compounded their problems.
