Gintoki returns to Edo after a short break in the war and reconstruction effort, and encounters Shinpachi on a bridge without being noticed. This leads to a sudden fight between Yorozuya and Tenshouin Naraku, causing their enemies to become suspicious. To keep his identity secret, Gintoki uses only a loincloth while at the Yorozuya office, where he discovers an unanticipated visitor. At the same time, Kondou travels to space to wed Princess Bubbles, hoping to improve diplomatic relationships. When on board the Gorilla Amanto mothership, he realizes he can't converse with aliens due to language barriers. However, Kondou's attempts at communication inadvertently gain their support. Despite this, a person linked to the princess intervenes and disrupts the wedding. Will Kondou's marriage happen, or has he avoided becoming the next Gorilla Prince?
