Living with her grandmother and lacking any specific aspirations, Cocona was an ordinary middle school student. However, a chance encounter with a peculiar girl named Papika would soon change her unremarkable life. Papika invited Cocona to join the organization, Flip Flap, and with her infectious energy, led her into Pure Illusion, a parallel world, to retrieve crystal shards. After succeeding in their task, the duo ventured into another Pure Illusion world, only to be attacked by a vicious creature. Acting on instinct, Cocona and Papika harnessed their inner strength by using their crystals to transform into magical girls - Pure Blade and Pure Barrier. While they fought the creature, three mysterious individuals from a rival organization suddenly appeared, killing the beast and taking a fragment of its body. Intent on defeating their adversaries and the threats in Pure Illusion, Cocona and Papika knew they needed to stand together, merging their powers and emotions. Thus, they began to train and work towards a harmonious bond to battle and transform to their fullest potential.
