30 years after the initial Youkai Watch TV series, Keita Amano, an 11-year-old boy, possessed a wristwatch that gave him power over Youkai. He used this power to form strong friendships with the creatures and accomplish great deeds. However, when Keita grew older, he lost his ability to see Youkai, and the wristwatch posed a danger to the balance between human and Youkai worlds. As a result, it was discarded into the abyss of time and space. Over time, the legend of the Youkai-controlling wristwatch faded into obscurity. But after many long years had passed, a malevolent Youkai virus known as Onimaro began to infect people, turning them into Kaodeka Oni and plunging the city into chaos. As the end looms, only individuals selected by a new Youkai Watch can rise up against this impending threat, saving both humans and Youkai from certain destruction.
