During his first year of middle school, Inaba Yuushi endured the tragic loss of his parents and was forced to live with relatives who were less than thrilled to have him. Upon approaching graduation, his excitement to attend a high school with a dormitory was shattered when a fire destroyed the living quarters. Though hesitant to impose on his resentful relatives, he couldn't find inexpensive housing as an orphaned student. Eventually, he stumbled upon an alluring old building which was better than it appeared. It was called the Monster House, where humans cohabited with supernatural creatures. Akine, a fellow student of his, resided there and fearlessly confronted malevolent spirits. Yuushi's high school future had taken a peculiar turn.
