When a young man named Van Fanel and a fierce dragon suddenly appear out of nowhere, teenage girl Hitomi Kanzaki's life takes a dramatic turn. Hitomi's fascination with tarot cards and divination proves useful when she foresees that Van will need her help to defeat the dragon. However, their victory comes with an unexpected consequence, as a powerful beam of light transports them both to the mystical world of Gaea where Earth hangs in the sky. As they adjust to their new surroundings, Hitomi discovers that Van is not just a wanderer but the prince of the Kingdom of Fanelia, which is under threat from the wicked Zaibach empire. Despite Van's best efforts, Fanelia falls apart and he is forced to flee with Hitomi. Along the way, they meet a charming Asturian knight named Allen Schezar, who bears a striking resemblance to Hitomi's earthly crush.
