While en route to Areishia Spirit Academy, Kamito Kazehaya bumps into a naked Claire Rouge who had just finished a purification ceremony to form a contract with a powerful spirit. Despite only shrine maidens being permitted to unlock the power of an "elementalist," Kamito ends up with the spirit. Unfazed, Claire insists that he become her contracted spirit instead. Upon arrival at the academy, Kamito evades Claire and encounters Headmaster Greyworth Ciel Mais, who invites him to enroll. Though his status as the sole male student among the shrine princesses-in-training will make life difficult, Kamito accepts the offer to gain information about his former contracted spirit, Restia Ashdoll. Additionally, Greyworth makes it clear that Kamito must emerge victorious in the upcoming Blade Dance, a battle festival held every two years. He will need to defeat the strongest elementalist, who is rumored to be in league with a darkness spirit.
