In Japan, the Taira clan, also known as the Heike, commands immense authority. A young girl gifted with extraordinary abilities to foretell the future criticizes the clan, resulting in the execution of her father. In due course, Taira no Shigemori, the eldesTaira no Shigemori, t son of the clan leader, meets the girl - now using the moniker "Biwa" - who warns him of his clan's imminent downfall. Moved by the Heike's mistreatment of Biwa, Shigemori offers her protection. As tensions escalate, and the specter of war looms large, Shigemori - who possesses the ability to communicate with the dead - strives to avert his clan's destruction.
