An anime TV series based on the first three out of the five episodes of Phantasy Star Online 2 game will be created, with some additional anime-original material. In episode 1, the player and ARKS trainee, Afin, are assaulted by sinister organisms known as Darkers during their qualifying examination on the planet Naberius. They stumble upon a girl with amnesia and uncover the truth about Naberius and the recent upsurge of Darker activity. The plot of episode 2 revolves around the player and Matoi as they endeavor to unveil a twisted conspiracy related to the origin and purpose of ARKS. In episode 3, the ARKS crew is assigned to probe the reason behind the sudden Kuronite attack on the peaceful planet Harukotan, which is home to both Shironians and Kuronites. The investigation leads to the discovery of a frightening and convoluted truth that shakes the newly-reformed ARKS to its core.
