After covertly taking a hundred snapshots and surreptitiously monitoring him for months, Yuki Kurihara, a sophomore in high school, has finally summoned the courage to ask out her crush, a freshman named Shinya "Momo" Momotsuki. Despite being taken aback, the shy Momo agrees to Yuki's proposal; yet, he is unaware of the bizarre reality. Yuki's prim and proper comrade, Norika Mizuyama, has noticed that Yuki has developed some unsettling habits: clandestinely photographing Momo, conducting elaborate surveillance of his personal life, hoarding his used drinking straws, and "Momo watching." While Momo remains ignorant of his off-beat girlfriend's peculiar tendencies, he does detect some peculiarities in their daily conversations. Though he is still uncertain and timid about their new relationship, Momo frequently engages in awkward exchanges owing to his novice status. Nevertheless, he is determined to satisfy his new girlfriend. The narrative of Momokuri chronicles Yuki and Momo's tentative exploration of their budding romance, as well as the obstacles that they encounter.
