During the year 0068 of the Universal Century, Casval Rem Deikun experiences a tumultuous upheaval in his life following the assassination of his father, a prominent advocate for the civil rights of those living beyond Earth's terrain. With the support of their father's loyal soldiers, Casval and his sister Artesia are extracted from their home, separated, and subjected to an unforeseen destiny that leads them down a path of military service and adulthood. Prior to adopting the alias of Char Aznable or earning his epithet as the "Red Comet", Casval must confront the emergence of a militant version of his father's philosophy and his own desire for revenge as he evolves into a celebrated mobile suit pilot during an intergalactic war.
