In 2039, helper androids have become widely used as versatile gadgets. Following a car accident that claimed the lives of his loved ones and quitting his music band, Keiichiro discovers an old android in a trash heap. Despite being warned that it was beyond repair, he takes it home. The next day, he discovers the android making breakfast for him - igniting a summer filled with emotionless androids and a directionless boy. Originally an independent OVA animation, Kowarekake no Orgel was later adapted for theatrical release with alterations to its length and content.
