The protagonist of the tale goes by the name of Mangchi - a diminutive but resourceful lad with access to a magical hammer that helps him tackle any obstacles in his path. Taking place on a small, isolated isle dubbed Candlestick, the story is set against a bleak backdrop of barren wastelands that stretch as far as the eye can see, the aftermath of a devastating catastrophe that has ravaged the planet. When Princess Poplar, hailing from the kingdom of Jemius, finds herself being hunted down by Moonk's minions, Hammerboy joins forces and unleashes his formidable powers to ensure the survival of all humanity. Debuting at the Big Apple Anime Fest on August 30, 2003, the movie later received a wide release in South Korea on August 6, 2004.
