Gintoki and his comrades, who had backed the resistance against the bakufu, joined forces with Katsura and his Joui rebels and went into hiding. However, their peaceful existence is short-lived as Nobume Imai and two Kiheitai members arrive with alarming news about the Harusame pirates' betrayal of 7th Division Captain Kamui and their former ally Takasugi, who went missing following an attack during a Harusame raid. The Kiheitai task the Yorozuya with finding Takasugi. Furthermore, Nobume shocks them with a revelation about the Tendoushuu, a secret organization manipulating various factions from the shadows, and its leader, Utsuro, who bears an eerie resemblance to Gintoki's former teacher. To pursue this lead, the Yorozuya and Katsura board Sakamoto's spaceship and journey to Rakuyou, Kagura's birth planet. This planet is a hub for different factions, fraught with longstanding grudges and power struggles. The Tendoushuu's sinister plot comes to fruition here, resulting in an intense and decisive battle.
