King Suddhodhana of the ancient Shakya Kingdom becomes aware of his wife Maya's unusual dream in which a white elephant with six tusks enters her body and signifies that their child, Siddhartha Gautama, is blessed. The sage Master Asita predicts that the child will rule the world as a chakravartin. In the meantime, a young boy named Chapra experiences discrimination under the strict caste system. When the Kosala army attacks Kapilavastu, the Shakya capital city, Chapra plays a part in their defeat. However, he leaves his life of servitude to improve his mother's situation and joins the Kosala army with the intent to rise through the ranks. Siddhartha receives an education in all aspects of governing and combat, but he has no interest in these pursuits. His quest revolves around the mysteries of life and the world, prompting him to abandon his royal duties and search for enlightenment, even as the expanding power of Kosala poses a threat to Shakya.
