Following his defeat at the Grand Prix Finale, Yuuri Katsuki returned to his family home to assess his options for the future. At the age of 23, his goals of succeeding in figure skating were quickly slipping away. Unfortunately, his love for pork cutlets and tendency to gain weight did not help his cause. Despite his difficulties, Yuuri found himself thrust back into the limelight when a video of him performing a routine previously executed by five-time world champion Victor Nikiforov went viral. Victor himself unexpectedly arrived at Yuuri's home and offered to become his coach. Yuuri accepted the offer with enthusiasm, thrilled to embark on his journey back to the world stage. However, competition was fierce, as Russian prodigy Yuri Plisetsky fought aggressively for victory in order to regain Victor's mentorship.
