The anime "Wake Up, Girls!" chronicles the growth and friendship of seven young girls who reside in Sendai, Miyagi. These girls come together to form an idol group called "Wake Up, Girls! (WUG)", and strive to become the top idols in the industry. Despite working under a small production company in Sendai known as "Green Leaves Entertainment", WUG overcomes countless obstacles and even beats the national idol group, "I-1 club", to win the Idol Festival. However, with the ongoing idol recession, their newfound success is met with challenges. The girls continue to work tirelessly, facing the ups and downs of the industry with honesty and integrity. Meanwhile, three middle school students from Sendai, Hayashi Ayumi, Morishima Otome, and Atsugi Itsuka, aspire to follow in their idol footsteps.
