The Patrian civil war sparked the creation of half-human, half-beast soldiers as a solution for the outnumbered Northerners to combat the more powerful Southern forces. These soldiers, dubbed "Incarnates," possessed godlike abilities, allowing them to easily triumph in battle. However, as the war persisted, the Incarnates encountered a difficult issue involving the beasts within them that they couldn't resolve through conventional measures. When the war ended, reports surfaced of the Incarnates falling prey to their war-induced misfortunes. In response, former captain of the Incarnates, Special Sergeant Major Hank Henriette, became a Beast Hunter, tasked with taking down Incarnates who had succumbed to their traumas. After witnessing her father, a former Incarnate, killed by a Beast Hunter, Nancy Schaal Bancroft decides to seek revenge. However, her interaction with the Beast Hunter prompts her to investigate the possible causes of her father's and other Incarnates' sufferings and tragic existence within society.
