In a future Japan, where android housekeepers are an everyday sight, society strictly enforces the Three Laws of Robotics that all androids must follow. The Robot Ethics Committee's sway categorizes androids as minor equipment similarly to household appliances. A small group of "android-holics" who adore androids exist; however, they are ostracized by society. Rikuo Sakisaka is accustomed to society's perspective on androids and understands that they are not human; that is, until he stumbles upon a puzzling message embedded in his household android Sammy's activity logs. Rikuo's curiosity leads him to Eve no Jikan, a cafe where an essential rule is that humans and androids are indistinguishable. He becomes eager to understand the café's purpose and discover the reason for Sammy's peculiar conduct.
