Iratsume, a noblewoman, breaks into a temple reserved for women unintentionally while reciting Buddhist sutras in a trance. This act awakens the spirit of Prince Otsu, who had been put to death earlier. Prince Otsu mistakes Iratsume for a girl from her family who had seen his execution and left a lasting impression on him. He cannot find peace until he is exorcised of this haunting specter.
