After a disagreement between his friends, Tenchi seeks solace in the woods. As he contemplates his situation, a voice calls out from a camellia tree. He approaches, and suddenly finds himself transported through a portal and disappearing from sight. Tenchi is gone for half a year, and though many give up hope, his closest companions remain determined. They split into two groups: Aeka and Ryoukou investigate on Earth, while Washuu, Sasami, Kiyone, and Mihoshi travel the galaxy in search of him. Finally, they detect Tenchi's energy signature on their radar, but it quickly becomes clear that things are not as they expected. Tenchi has no memory of them and is now living happily with another woman. Finding him only leads to more questions for his friends, rather than a resolution.
