In May of 2018, V-Jump announced that Dragon Ball Heroes, a renowned Japanese arcade and trading card game, would be featured in a promotional anime. A Nintendo Switch version of the game was developed for Western audiences, while the Japanese market combined the card game with another of the same name, marketed as "Dragon Ball Super TCG". The anime is anticipated to be brief and is not slated for television broadcast. Its focus is centered on the established Prison Planet Arc and the "Big Bang Mission" and "Ultra God Mission" manga arcs found in the Heroes manga published in Saikyou Jump. Even though they pertain to separate canons, these arcs have yet to be officially released in English. The first installment of the anime premiered on July 1, 2018, showcased at Aeon Lake Town.
