Following the conflict with Doakuder in Soukaizan, a parallel world where the rainbow had vanished due to demons, a devil from that realm infiltrated Genseikai, robbing Wataru of his conscience. This theft erased his memories of being the Kyuuseishu, a savior of the world, and his sense of justice. Though Shibaraku and Himiko transported him back to Shinbukai, the world where Soukaizan was located, Wataru's conscience remained missing despite regaining his memories. To retrieve it, he must return to Soukaizan and take on the devils to prevent a catastrophe. SUNRISE's Chou Mashin Eiyuuden Wataru is an updated version of the Mashin Eiyuuden Wataru TV series and is the third installment. It aired between October 2, 1997, and September 24, 1998, on Thursdays from 6:00 to 6:30pm, for a total of 51 episodes.
