Kitauji High School's Wind Ensemble put on a remarkable display during Oumae Kumiko's freshman year, leaving the audience in awe. However, their performance during their second year failed to meet expectations, resulting in disappointment for the entire club. Although their goal was to clinch a sought-after gold medal at the national competition, they only received a mediocre "dud gold" at Kansai's event. The seniors retired, and new leadership emerged, with Kumiko taking up the mantle of club president. She enthusiastically accepted the challenge of leading Kitauji to Nationals while working with their teacher, Taki Noboru, to help the ensemble achieve success.
