The first step in Earth's space exploration was the Next Colonies. However, the group eventually rebelled and established themselves as the Next Government. Their uprising resulted in a long and brutal war, prompting the transformation of multi-purpose Metal Vehicles, or MVs, into battle machines. Adding to Earth's troubles was the Terra faction, which actively sought to cause more chaos. Unbeknownst to all parties, a strange and powerful MV-like entity, known as S.A.C ("S" for short), was on the loose. Next desperately sought to obtain it in order to turn the tide of the war. Meanwhile, Hal, a psychic leader for the Terra group, had sensed the presence of "S" and desired to learn more about its extraordinary capabilities. Ultimately, the future of these three factions hung in the balance and lay in the hands of a group of renegades residing on an abandoned Next 7 colony - a fact that remained unknown to all.
