A famed American street basketball team, Jabberwock, whose prowess is undeniably on par with that of NBA players, crossed borders to Japan to participate in an exhibition match against Strky, a former third-year student squad that had previously triumphed in both Interhigh and Winter Cup. However, the match was no test for Jabberwock as they effortlessly emerged victorious, much to the dismay of the Japanese team. Moreover, the team captain, Nash Gold Jr., resorted to insulting the Japanese style of basketball, likening it to that of monkeys. Kagetora Aida, feeling indignant and offended by Nash's disparaging remark, took on the challenge of restoring Japan's honor by calling for a rematch against Jabberwock. Despite being confident about the outcome, Nash conceded to the challenge owing to his sense of pride. Kagetora, in turn, rallied the Generation of Miracles - including Kuroko Tetsuya and Kagami Taiga - to form a new squad known as Team Vorpal Swords. They were the only ones with a fighting chance against a seemingly invincible opponent.
