Initially believing he was possessed by a spirit, Japanese high-school student Jotaro Kujo imprisoned himself until he reunited with his grandfather, Joseph Joestar, and fought his friend, Muhammad Abdul. It was during this fight that Jotaro realized that his supposed "Spirit" was actually his Stand, a form of fighting energy. To complicate matters, Jotaro's mother also developed a Stand and fell seriously ill. Upon learning the villainous Dio Brando had returned after a century and was responsible for his mother's affliction, Jotaro knew he had to defeat Dio for good. So, with Joseph and Abdul by his side, Jotaro set out on a journey to Egypt to put an end to the malevolent Dio's reign.
