In the spring of 1956, a decade after the end of the Pacific War, Rieko Sakamoto assumed the position of a fresh educator at an elementary school situated in downtown Tokyo's Kiba. Coincidently, a new student by the name of Shizu Miyanaga, hailing from Kobe, joined the 6th-grade class number four. Shizu was a beautiful, intelligent girl with aspirations of becoming a singer. Her exceptional abilities, both athletic and academic, swiftly drew everyone's attention in the classroom. Akira, the class president, and the son of a joiner, began to develop a profound fondness towards Shizu.
