Although most Youkai are harmless, a dangerous subgroup risks upsetting the peace between humans and spiritual beings who are hidden in plain sight. Acting as an intermediary, Kotoko Iwanaga, the self-proclaimed "God of Wisdom," tackles any supernatural issue that arises. One day, while in a local hospital, Kotoko meets Kurou Sakuragawa, who is devastated by a recent breakup. Sensing an otherworldly malice beneath his exterior, Kotoko enlists his help in handling Youkai matters as she has deep feelings for him. Two years later, news reports reveal a pop idol was killed by steel beams, and later, sightings of a steel beam-wielding woman without a face arouse curiosity. Kotoko and her partner investigate the supernatural incident only to find the case is more insidious and personal than they could have imagined.
