Narumi Fujishima is an atypical high school student who has always felt out of place among his peers. Over time, he has grown increasingly solitary. However, Narumi's situation is not unique, and Ayaka--the sole member of the Gardening Club--introduces him to the reclusive girl living upstairs from the ramen shop. This meeting opens up a new world that is shrouded in secrecy. Alice, the girl upstairs, is a NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training), but this label does not accurately reflect her day-to-day activities as Narumi soon discovers. While caring for her vast collection of teddy bears, Alice is also an accomplished hacker and runs an exclusive private detective agency. To Narumi's surprise, Alice invites him to join her team of strange yet elite associates, comprised mostly of her NEET acquaintances. Together, they solve crimes and engage in battles with gangs, robbers, drug lords and murderers. In the ensuing chaos, Narumi's life takes an unexpected turn.
