Over the span of one year, Gestalt was filmed in a Tokyo dormitory, where Ishida would paint on the wall and capture the image with the natural light coming through the window. The resulting 7-minute film is made up of brief shots taken each day, and is accompanied by eerily beautiful organ music composed by J.S. Bach.
