Set in Japan during the early summer of 2015, the story centers on Tachikawa City, a "second metropolis" in the Tokyo area boasting a population of 180,000 residents. Here, a band of fighters called "Gatchaman" deploy fortified suits powered by "NOTE," a manifestation of innate spiritual abilities found in all living beings, to combat adversaries. A team has been assembled by a council to protect Earth from alien invaders, consisting of individuals with untapped potentials. Recently, the council has tasked the Gatchaman warriors with the mission of confronting the obscure entity known as "MESS."
