Despite their defeat, the remaining factions of the Taipingtao Revolution resist, resulting in an ongoing war that engulfs China. The revolution's death toll has left behind negative emotions that create the wangliang, malevolent beings that possess and transform humans into terrifying demons, perpetuating a brutal cycle of death and despair. To combat this, the Tianyuan, immortal deities, choose individuals as "Hunters" and accompany them with "Guizhan," who can absorb miasma and transform into demons, essential in defeating the wangliang. After a tragic accident disbands the Sixth Hunter Unit, three promising Hunters: Ji Ying, Qiao Xun, and Yan Ding reform the group.
