Social media has been buzzing with reports of strange creatures known as "Hologram Ghosts" for the past few years. It is rumored that these creepy apparitions have taken several lives, and those who have managed to escape their grasp describe them as unsettling, glitch-like holograms. While Hazakura Academy middle schooler, Hiro Amanokawa, is doubtful of these stories, the growing number of incidents reminds him of his father's inexplicable disappearance, which left behind only odd digital watches. Like the other occurrences, Hiro's father's vanishing can't be explained logically. When a Hologram Ghost claims a fellow student's life at the academy, Hiro and his friend, Kiyoshirou Higashimitarai, decide to start an investigation. They have no idea that their quest will reveal a hazardous world unknown to humanity.
