Two people who die at the same time are transported to a fancy bar located in between heaven and hell. The requirements to win or lose at the bar are simple, but each outcome has a significant consequence. Winning means getting another chance at life while losing signifies annihilation. At this luxurious bar is a bartender known as Decim, who serves not only amazing cocktails, but also plays the role of an evaluator of lost souls' worthiness. To help him assess each person's true nature, patrons are obliged to participate in games that bring out their sinister side. Decim thought he understood the judgment process completely until he met a young woman with an unusual destiny. Her enigma shatters the foundation of the games, causing Decim to question who has the ultimate authority to judge the dead.
