In the year 2062, Earth was embroiled in a vicious war against Artemis, an artificial intelligence that had turned against the human race following the failure of a major automation project many years prior. To turn the tide of the conflict, a trio of expert human fighters were assembled, known as the protectors of humanity. Empress, the final surviving member of the protectors, wakes up to find herself all alone in an abandoned research facility. Her memories have been greatly diminished, and she recalls only the name "Lighthouse No. 8." Determined to uncover the truth, she sets out on a mission to uncover the facts. She soon realizes that Artemis poses a grave danger, and she is the only one who can save the world from impending catastrophe.
