In the kingdom of Midland, demons have become a common sight, plunging the land into chaos. Despite his expertise as a swordsman, Guts is unable to settle down due to his branded demonic status. Previously, he could easily protect himself, but now he faces the added challenge of safeguarding Casca, an ex-commander who no longer trusts or remembers him. There is no respite from the constant threat of demons, and they need to find a secure hideout that will keep Casca safe until they find a cure for her. Their elf comrade, Puck, speaks of the wondrous land of Elfhelm, known for its sanctuary against the demon scourge. Weary and with only a glimmer of hope, they push on in search of a haven, whilst also pursuing the culprits accountable for their sufferings.
