The Level-5 Nintendo 3DS game has undergone a transformation into an animated series. While taking a leisurely walk in the woods, young scholar Keita Amano (or 'Nate' in the English version) comes across an unusual capsule toy dispenser. When he inserts his money, a spectral entity named Whisper emerges from the machine and pledges to become his Yo-kai butler, granting him the Yo-kai Watch. With this tool, the bearer can perceive invisible supernatural creatures known as Yo-kai, each possessing a unique set of magical abilities. By befriending various Yo-kai, the watch owner can summon and utilize their powers. Keita and Whisper embark on a journey to make friends with numerous mischievous Yo-kai in town, helping to resolve their issues along the way.
