In 2403 AD, Satoru is visited by Alisa, an attractive girl from the future. Together, they embark on a journey to the 21st century, but a technical malfunction sends them hurtling through unexpected religious and historical epochs. Kyoufuku no Kagaku, also referred to as the Institution for Research in Human Happiness, serves as Japan's equivalent to Scientology and is behind the creation of their third animated movie.
