Roan, a young swordsman, and his lifelong companion, the acolyte Yufa, embark on a perilous journey to confront a great evil that threatens to engulf the realm. Their travels take them from the highest towers to the depths of the underworld, through forest and desert, as they are joined by a growing cast of heroes. Fate holds them in its grasp, propelling them towards a noble or ignoble end, depending on their actions. Monsters lurk around every corner, and the path ahead is shrouded in danger and magic.
