Following his unjust placement on probation for defending a woman from sexual assault, Ren Amamiya, a fresh arrival at Shujin Academy, relocates to Tokyo to dwell with his family friend Sojiro Sakura. On the way to his inaugural day at the new school, Ren detects an unusual app on his phone that takes him to a realm called the Metaverse, which houses people's "shadows" - twisted reflections of their true selves. There, he uncovers his Persona, an inner power that endows him with the strength to battle the shadows. Alongside fellow anguished classmates, Ren establishes the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, whose objective is to "take the heart" of corrupt individuals, making them atone for their misdeeds and seek redemption. The group's fame grows exponentially, attracting both admiration and criticism. Nevertheless, at the height of their notoriety, Ren is captured and detained. He faces a severe interrogation, which is interrupted when a prosecutor named Sae Niijima arrives, in search of answers. How will she react to Ren's tale, and what will befall the Phantom Thieves?
