Takaya Ougi is an ordinary high school student with a desire to protect his closest friend and lead a normal existence. But when Nobutsuna Naoe, an older gentleman, reveals to him that he is truly the reincarnation of Lord Kagetora, everything changes. Naoe, also a possessor, encourages Takaya to tap into his abilities to vanquish sinister spirits and battle the Fuedal Underworld. While many possessors have memories of their prior lives, Takaya does not. This proves beneficial for Naoe, since he had a tumultuous and abusive relationship with Lord Kagetora. As Takaya's powers progress, he also regains memories of Naoe's actions, driven by his love for him. Meanwhile, the dark factions of the Hojo and Fuma clans launch an offensive as the Fuedal Underworld infiltrates the world of the living.
