Ouri Kagami is accustomed to seeing dead bodies since he resides with other orphans at a sanctuary. However, when he witnesses the head of his orphanage, Keisei Tagami, apparently revive the mutilated cadaver of a schoolgirl named Makina Hoshimura, he is taken aback. Captivated by the perplexing events encircling Makina, he discovers that she is a Shikabane Hime—an animated entity assigned with eradicating others of her kind who endanger society. As Ouri proceeds with his everyday routines, his unpredictable encounters with her are surrounded by abnormality.
