When a soul commits unforgivable sins, it is banished from the reincarnation cycle governed by the Soul Society and consigned to eternal damnation in the depths of Hell. The denizens of Hell, known as Sinners, launch a violent attack on Karakura Town and clash with Ichigo Kurosaki and his allies. In the aftermath of the conflict, Shuren, the leader of the Sinners, abducts Ichigo's sisters in a bid to escape the clutches of Hell. Determined to rescue them, Ichigo and his friends team up with a Sinner called Kokutou and embark on a perilous mission to the underworld. Despite the Soul Society's objections over upsetting the balance of the three realms, Ichigo and his comrades remain resolved to fulfill their plan. As lines of loyalty blur and shift, Ichigo is faced with a difficult decision, the consequences of which could potentially disrupt the harmony of all three worlds. The ultimate outcome is uncertain.
