The story starts with Hikaru having an encounter with extraterrestrials Prunce, Lala, and Fuwa while stargazing. She learns about the "Star Palace," where the 12 Star Princesses used to maintain balance in the universe before they were attacked. Lala seeks the renowned Precure warriors' help to locate the 12 scattered "Princess Star Color Pens" and awaken the princesses. When Fuwa gets kidnapped, Hikaru chooses to rescue her. In doing so, she receives a Star Color Pendent and a Star Color Pen, which enable her transformation into Cure Star. From then on, her aim is to collect the pens and protect Fuwa, who plays a vital role in revitalizing the princesses.
