Kotetsushin Jeeg, taking place fifty years after the original, follows a new cast of characters, with Kenji Kusanagi as their leader. As the renowned protagonist, Kenji fights against the reappearance of "Haniwa Genjin" - clay robots from the Jamada Empire controlled by Queen Himika. In supporting Kenji's mission are Tsubaki Tamashiro - the granddaughter of Miwa Uzuki - Kyou Misumi, and other essential figures from the previous series.
