Initially, Yomigaeru Sora was meant to have a female protagonist and highly detailed animation. Regrettably, the vision of Producer Kiyoshi Sugiyama was vetoed by J.C. Staff Executive Officer and Head of Production Yuji Matsukura, Director Katsushi Sakurabi, and Series Composition writer Fumihiko Takayama, leading to the development of a male lead character with more straightforward animation. However, the Limited Edition DVD Box Set's seventh volume included a trial version of Sakurabi's original proposal.
